This is one of my favorite videos. I would love to have a wide hood T800. Big beastly trucks, huge wheelbase. Nothing pretty about them. Give me 320 in wb, 1000hp, flat top coffin, 3 spd aux and an 18 with 4:55s. I would change the rotation of earth.
I would need $275-300k for a new one. Or, I could do a @superhauler conversion and build my own for 1/3 the money and not have to worry about dog pee and EGRs. -
Was just thinking...after all the years of working in Canada and wind farms and rig moves and crane moves in a flat top...
...running on dirt roads, sitting and waiting, big freakin loads...I guess that’s why I prefer a more rugged truck. It’s all I’ve known since I got away from the reefers in the early 90s. When I first started in open deck, I was steel hauling. You didn’t see pretty trucks in the steel mills. Everything was flat top. We were home every weekend, we ran like hell during the week, but Friday morning we headed to the house. There was an aluminum mill in Scottsboro,AL and the steel mills in GaryIN. We ran aluminum up north, but brought the steel coils from Gary to Birmingham. Back in those days, Birmingham was called Smoke City. Nasty place.sawmill, whoopNride, 7-UP and 14 others Thank this. -
I'm curious because I see this a lot, the 13 and 15 are entirely different transmissions but people always say they would take either one. I love an 18, like a 13 didn't care for a 15. Just an observation.1951 ford, 4mer trucker, cke and 10 others Thank this.

If I were building a truck it would be a T800 with a flat top set up just kinda plain.Shock Therapy, 1951 ford, 4mer trucker and 10 others Thank this.

One of our trucks has a 15, the other two have 18s.
The 15 for whatever reason (maybe just less miles on it) shifts really smooth, but I really don't care for the gearing in it. Having the splits of an 18/13 on the high side, for what we do and where we do it, is much better.
The worst part is the different shift patterns. Switching from one to another wreaks havoc on me as my right arm gets confused. There ought to be a law against it, kinda like excavator controls, nothing screws me up more than having to run an excavator when it is not on the SAE pattern.Shock Therapy, 1951 ford, 4mer trucker and 12 others Thank this. -

I do as well. This rig was setting in Tennessee where I had my conestoga installed. 3rd axle and heavy front give it a manly look.Shock Therapy, sawmill, 7-UP and 10 others Thank this.

When you see a "Rough Road" sign on a road that's already been killing your suspension and dreams for the past 100 miles...
Oh, so, THIS is where it gets bad, huh? Could've fooled me... not like I thought the past road was as smooth as glass or anything....Shock Therapy, 7-UP, 1951 ford and 8 others Thank this.
