The one in the intake that the coolant runs through. When oil starts coming out of the turbo it can cake up on the top and not let air across

    Oxbow and SAR Thank this.

Is a 177148 waste gated? Any idea on cost?

Yes, it is. I paid about $1300 for the one I have, no core charge.

I don't currently have a waste gated turbo. Does changing to one require adding hoses or anything? What's the advantage?

The only adaptation required is to either replace the solid oil tube with a braided steel hose off of an E model, or carefully bend the existing tube, or adapt the mounting of the waste gate actuator to clear the oil tube. Purchasing the E model tube would be the simplest way to go.

The advantage is that the engine will build boost much more quickly and at lower RPMs. The 177148 is an aftermarket replacement for an E model, and supports 550 hp.

Mine is a b model with no ATA. I assuming it will still directly bolt to my exhaust manifold? I just don't want to order one and have to retrofit a lot.

    Oxbow Thanks this.

I believe so. Mine are both 4MG with air to air, but the bolt pattern should be the same.

I know of folks talking about round port versus square port, but I am not knowledgeable about what has what. @wore out , @SmokinCAT , can you help here?

    SAR Thanks this.

I just want to hear from someone that knows my engine, and Knows that it will work without exhaust pipe mods etc.

    Oxbow Thanks this.

Understood. Best to let folks with more knowledge than me help you determine that.

    SAR Thanks this.
