Not everyone in trucking feels the need to compensate for, well, you know, with a giant, uh, you know, sticking up over their roof.

I tend to think the weed burners look better. Cleaner.

So in other words, declaring the effectiveness of a certain little blue pill doesn’t work for you? :laughing-guffaw:

None of this will matter once the Tesla hits the road and is proven. Then, it'll be game over for diesels.

I've talked to several guys with big old classic style Pete's and freightliner. They all say they are lucky to get 6mpg..

My 2018 "grass burner" has a fuel average of over 8mpg at 65. That's a lot of money saved in a years time to not be the "cool guy" with a square truck, 550hp engine and smoke stacks..

That probably has more to do with the drivetrain of these newer trucks and less with moving the exhaust location. The engines are neutered to work efficiently with the transmission and rear ends to get fuel economy.

The glider that I drive has a 6nz Cat that is a stock 550. And when I’m grossing 105k and can pass a newer emissions truck going uphill that I’m at a minimum of 25k heavier than it’s enough to keep me away from the newer engines no matter where the pipe is located.

It has absolutely nothing to do with soot. Cars come out black also.

If your oil isn't coming out black. You're using the wrong oil. Black oil is cleaning out the engine. If the oil stays clean. It's not cleaning out the engine.

When i was young. I never could figure out why pennzoil would blacken while quaker state stayed clean. Back in the carburetor days. Before i was turning wrenches. Then i took a class and that's what was explained.

I think HP is one of the governed specs. I noticed that when i used to run a scangauge. The motor was isx475. Yet the gauge never showed more then 365. It still had more power then the isx450. Except for 1. But I didn't have the gauge to know what those motors were doing.

I also don't know if that number was accurate. And if it came from the motor or the tires.

The 1 isx. I was hoping to purchase through the company i was working for. They closed the doors. But i had that one reflashed from Cummins in Dallas. All restrictions removed. It had more power then the 475. And got better mileage. It was the best $125 i ever spent. The motor performed alright before but i was loving it after.

Mileage has a lot more to do with gearing and engine tuning than aero my dad's running a 97 fld120 with an n14 and gets 8.5 pretty regular

Put some fake ones on the truck. Spray some flat black paint at the top so it looks like it's blowing black smoke.
Way back in high school guys put crossover flex pipe on the exhaust system just so they can have twin exhaust showing at the back of the car. Then they'd install a spark plug at the back of each one, then set the carburator on rich setting and as the unused fuel exited the exhaust pipes the spark plugs would set it afire and you'd have two flames shooting out the exhaust pipes. Hope this answers your question.
