Hi guys
If I have my CDL in AZ can I base my operating authority out of CA?
Will my DOT audits be in AZ or CA?
Will the DOT etc send my mail to my address on my CDL or my CA address I would use for all the forms to get my authority/registration,IFTA IRP etc?
Thanks,
Andrew

a auth. is a entity in itself, you will need a physical address.
any DOT audit would happen at the place of business.
you also would need a business license for the state your auth. is in.
you can also choose to LLC OR INC. THAT BUSINESS and it does'nt neccessarily have to be a CA corp. i.e. nevada or delaware type.. -
thanks Bigray for the info....
I have a physical address in CA. I am going to use a S. corp
So the DOT doesnt care if I have my Authority/business based in CA but I have a Arizona CDL?
Can my mailing address for my authority,IRP, IFTA,registration etc also be in CA or does it have to be the address on my CDL?
I assume with my authority in CA I can then register my truck and trailer in CA right?
thanks,

You will need a driver qualification file on yourself . You made need advice on deducting state payroll taxes . It's a good idea to talk to a tax professional (CPA or Enrolled Agent ) before getting started anyway . -
thanks Rick. It sounds like I shouldn't have any problems then. I have made a driver qualification file on myself.
Is their anything thing that states about authority in one state and having a license in a different state on the DOT's or FMSCA's website?( I have searched but couldn't find it)
I will talk to my CPA about the taxes.
thanks,

your license has nothing to do with your authority,
