No you don't. As above he chould have needed the restroom. He could just be an aggressive driver.
Before eld, what excuses did you use for these drivers. It's not like they showed up from nowhere on Dec. 18th.

*aggressive unprofessional steering wheel holders that have to go to the bathroom and are low on hours are going to get people hurt/killed
stayinback, AZ Pete and Muddydog79 Thank this. -
So, the problem here isn't the ELD. The problem is who pays the driver and the company for detention time.
Don't blame the ELD. Write this sort of thing into your contracts.spyder7723 and Western flyer Thank this. -
You can drive around the parking log in 'off-duty' status all night long. The ELD doesn't trip to the drive line until you exceed 20mph.
Sometimes if I know I'm going to be tight on my 11, I'll manually switch to 'on-duty' when I stop at a traffic light a few minutes away from the receiver. Doing that can get you up to 15 extra minutes depending on where you are in that 15 minute block when you do it, and what the traffic conditions are.Tall Mike Thanks this. -
Nope. Eld's are limited to 5mph by law. If your device allows 20mph, then it's an aobr. And aobr's cannot be (legally) gotten anymore.shatteredsquare, deathB4decaf and spyder7723 Thank this.

I thought I read 5mph somewhere or not ?
Maybe certain companies are 5mph ? -
I have a geotab ELOG. It will go to drive time once I roll faster than 5 mph. That actually is an advantage in my opinion. I always deliver on my 10 hr break. That just seems to be the best use of time. I was at the Walmart in Grove City, OH. I parked at the warehouse next door. When my appt time came up, I crept the 1/4 mile in, and another 1/4 mile after the guard shack to get to the dock. It didn't even go to the drive line. If I'm on a long haul, I just trip plan differently. If I can help it, I try not get down to the wire. Many of us have enough experience out here in which we can figure out a parking situation long before we run out of hours. So many drivers only want to park at truck stops, and the corporate ones at that. One can't limit themselves like that. Sometimes a rest area, exit ramp, big parking lot, etc will work.

This stopping in the fuel aisles has been going on for years and years! It’s inconsiderate drivers thinking only about themselves and their “world”: just like the throwing of trash everywhere and peeing all over the place! I have been using electronic logs for years! I do not HAVE to throw my trash all over the ground; or find a place to take my 30 minute break without being inconsiderate to my other fellow drivers; and I don’t HAVE to pee all over the ground for everyone to have to walk thru... HOS and electronic logs are NOT the reasons this crap has been going on. It’s been going on for YEARS!
