The way I read this you took a job you are NOT qualified to do. A higher pay is a result of higher training.

Well, beat me to it was going to say pretty much the same thing.

Wonder if the op will post any follow up Monday after he does a grind session in the parking lot, busts a u joint, or drops a shaft?

How in the world did you get a CDL without knowing how to drive a stick? I thought everyone learned on a stick in school

Big companies are going with autos. Mom and pops are most likely going to have sticks, that is unless they bget a nice deal on autos. The company I work for initially had a mix of both. Now it's all sticks

Also autos are heavier trannys. Since autos are computerized, younrun into that issue of getting it hung in gear periodically

Brother, I give you props for putting out tips. The reality is trucking is one of those things that you have to obtain hands on learning. This driver is going to stick out like a sore thumb for a period of time. It's a reason why rookies go out with a trainer for so long. You gotta have that practice.

Im sowwy. The speedometer means nothing in shifting. The RPM gauge is where it's at.

If you cannot get the RPM's to match the gearing you are going nowhere. Or somewhere very hot very quickly.

This is where the industry is at now folks..

It’s almost funny how many so called “drivers”come around our place looking for work that can’t shift..
You want to hop into a eld exempt large car, but you can’t shift ?
Did you really think we were running autos in these things ? Yeah, we’re running autos in these Pete’s....LOL

My advice to the OP would be go give it try and do your best....Maybe they will work with you..
