hey guys, hoping for some of your opinions!

    Cliff note style explanation/question:
-Looking at companies, want to go tanker at least eventually. Want to O/O in my future, probably in the oilfields.
-My best friend is a 75lb Blue Nose Pitbull mushball “agressive breed” who is very important for me to bring along.
-Prime and Schneider are the only starter companies with tanker divisions that I have found and can grow with but have pet policies which would still preclude my boy because of breed or weight if driving a company vehicle.
-Everyone sais a newbie leasing is a bad idea and I agree but it would allow me to circumvent the pet policy.
    -Accepted at TransAm:
Pros: APU’s, run t680’s which is what im interested in buying so Id like to start learning them, they don’t care about my dog as long as they get a 2k damage deposit which I know Ill get it all back.
Cons: reputed to be a #### company with #### pay and they pressure people into leases. Box trucks only.

    -Accepted at May:
Pros: better pay than TransAm, seem like a better company overall, also dont care about my dog with a much smaller deposit for him.
Cons: Freightliners(not hating, its just not KW or Pete), no APU’s, Box trucks only.

Call me a ##### all you want but a 34 hour reset in the south during the summer without A/C sounds miserable.

Most of you know more than I do, what would you recommend?

    Thank you for your time!

You are going to have a hard time with the dog & tank wagons. At least in the chemical world anyway, i can’t say towards food grade.

I would recommend teaching your dog not to bark at everyone it sees walking around.its very annoying to have someone's mutt barking it's head off at everyone who walks by.what would you think if I had a 10 year old in my truck that screams " get away from my truck" at the top of it's lungs nonstop? Same thing with your dog. Your sharing a parking lot with potentially hundreds of other drivers. If it's territorial maybe you should leave it at home. And it doesn't need to be in the building.

Jim Palmer Trucking advertises "open pet policy", whatever that means & trucks have APU.
The problem with Prime tanker is it's food grade, so probably never be allowed to take the dog inside any plant and unlikely a security guard will baby sit the dog while you're loading or unloading.

The “agressive breed” is a label brother, hes the exact opposite in fact as hes spent over a year working as a therapy dog with alsheimers/dementia/hospice.

Thats solid advice guys, thank you, hadn’t thought about tanker specific requirements having a dog. Glad I asked. So basically its rare to see dogs in the tanker world?

Yeah, it is. Most plants security is very tight, and the dog is a liability. Also if for some reason the siren blows and you have to follow evacuation procedures the dog could pose a serious issue. Between your safety going back to get him & others safety while everybody is at the rally point.

Been there and done that, down in Baytown TX if I remember correctly. I went to use the mens room, was told a fire drill was scheduled in a few minutes and make it quick... I was rounding the corner and all of the sudden the hair on my arm is burning, I mean curling back, and my eye brows too... The #### plant was on fire, and I was right under it! A second later a guy comes running around the corner, as the fire drill is going off and says RUN! Not a drill, the place was burning. We staged, my truck and trailer were less than 50 yards from the fire... If I would have had a dog, he would have been on his own. No way they would have let me go get him.
