Faber if you think your getting rich being a cop, you need more kool-aid to drink. I wasn't threatning the other gentleman. I know you know the type, know everything under the sun and gonna tell you anyway. I said i'd like to meet him on the side of the road, makes for a interesting day. I hope all driver's have there stuff in order when I stop them. That way my day is a whole lot easier with less BS to put up with. I think that is the biggest misconception with drivers and police. Faber if you were a cop, any cop, any where, then you know what I'm taking about. I don't know how long your were on the job, but if you had anytime at all I sure you can understand what i am about to type. The less stuff I find in a day, is less paperwork, less hassles and less stress. The more I find is more B.S. paperwork and takes more time to complete. :biggrin_25520:

    FAber,

I have thought many times of doing what you have done. My old man drove 25 years , my uncle 43 years. I grew up around it and used to run my summer vacations from school with them. I have thought many times that i could make more $$$$$ doing it, but just haven't taken the leap. I know of a few of the guys I have worked with over the years have quit and are running over the road and loving it. If the economy was better, it would probably be more of a thought, but freight has dropped off.

    Faber Thanks this.

Imagine pulling over a truck that has a former dot guy driving it.
Now that would be a funny stop.
You tell him you are writing him up of c,d,e,f,g,h he says nop you can only legaly nail me for c.

Then you start telling him he does not know the law like you do at that time he introduces himself and tells you his qualifications.

Even funnier would be getting a former dot man that gets put oos for having a pos truck.

that would be hilarious i would have to agree. I have stopped former/retired dot officers driving a truck. One was my former sergeant. We had a lot of fun with him, he didn't see the humor in it though. Actually there was nothing wrong with him or the truck, and yes I was looking hard.

I remember being called to go to the border, Customs wanted a driver put out of service because he was behind on his log. When I got there he was being held in a holding room. The Customs officer handed me the driver's logbook, the driver was on the correct day but had not drawn a line coming on duty. I handed the logbook to the driver and told him he had ten minutes to bring in up to date. The driver drew a line and handed it back to me. Then I told Customs the driver was free to go. They were un-happy with me when the driver and I walked out together.
And before someone starts, yes Customs has the right to ask for you logbook. Even a town constable has the right to ask for your logbook.
I think some users of this forum should remember not to have a battle of witts with an un-armed person.
