does thermo king as a worldwide or nationwide (u.s.) company have a uniform parts/service warranty, and does anyone have this IN WRITING? (it’s not on my invoice anywhere...i couldn’t find it anywhere online, their website or elsewhere). i’d always understood that if something with an individual dealer’s parts/service went wrong i could take my unit into ANY thermo king dealer and have the situation taken care of.
i had issues with a repair so i took my unit in to a different dealer (since i was nowhere near the original dealer)...the second dealer basically said “it IS a warranty issue, but it’s got nothing to do with US, so take it up with them.”
so anyway yeah, anyone have this warranty in writing? thanks

Should be one year parts and labor if they supplied the parts and the labor. But I think some of these TK dealers are privately owned and may not have to honor other dealers warranties and vice versa - but idk for sure
KB3MMX, fooomanchu and mhyn Thank this. -
Can I ask what went wrong with the unit? And where you had it serviced.
fooomanchu Thanks this. -
I would call TK corporate and ask. Tell them what's going on. That idea of one shop having done some warranty work then another can't do it is BS. The shop probably doesn't make as much on warranty work and doesn't want to do it.

sounds like a workman ship issue. good luck

Call Corporate and get the names and phone numbers of the people you spoke to.Sandman 660, KB3MMX and fooomanchu Thank this. -
some TK dealers are affiliates and they don't do warranty repairs.
fooomanchu Thanks this. -
I would call corporate and asked for a copy of it. AND I would also consider getting the state where the repairs were done involved. They are covered by both state laws and the contractual obligations when the unit was purchased if you are an original owner.
KB3MMX and fooomanchu Thank this. -
It wouldn't matter if they are affiliates, because after the warranty work was completed, they would bill ThermoKing for it so they can get paid.
So regardless where the original work was completed, they're still going to get paid.Last edited: Mar 25, 2018

This is all assuming he got a warranty contract from TK. He could have gotten a 3rd party warranty. The fact he didn't even keep a copy of the contract (the warranty), makes me have to wonder what other corners he is cutting.
fooomanchu Thanks this.
