Currently have Florida base plate and may need to run to Georgia in a couple days. Do I just need to a trip permit or something else? And where would I go to get it? Never left the state with my own truck so this is new to me

i ran a single state plate for a little while i guess i slipped over a border once or twice only by a couple miles without doing a permit. but then i needed to cross boundary often again so i just went back to a prorate plate. so i can't really tell you exactly what you need to do. but if it was me i would just call my local irp office and ask them what you need to do.

i have found my local irp office to be generally helpful with questions.

If it were up to me I'd probably just take my chances since i think it just to Savannah but company I'm leased to doesn't like that idea

the couple times i did it where i was going was less than 10 miles across the state line and i was nervous the entire time. not worth it if you were to get nailed. i would seriously just call your local irp office in the am im sure they will have the answers for you.

GA DOT are communists it'd be risky imo. I can't imagine any company being cool with you risking their good name and business like that. Rates must be pretty bad to even consider it.

Trip Permit and Fuel Permit. I don't know about Georgia but I generally get them from the state's DOT or trucking website.

You'll need trip and fuel permit. You can get it online, over the phone or through 3rd party such as comdata.
If you have just base plates not planning to run there often, it would be easier just to get a permits. Overwise you should get IRP plates.

It would be a rare trip for me, which is why I only have a regular plate. Only been out of state once in 6 years. I found the permits thru JJKeller. Haven't been able to try through GA site since it's not phone friendly and not home right now. Hopefully I get a chance to look it up today before it is given to someone else.

Just need a trip and fuel permit. Your FL tag is going to stick out like a sore thumb. I’d have that permit handy

    Already planning for that.

They must really want me to run this load. Company ordered the permit for more. It's a 3 day IRP from GA. Going to cost me a whole $30 to make two trips to Savannah this week not counting trailer rent as mine was not big enough to use.
