I quit using snail mail for paying bills many moons ago. I use my credit unions third party bill pay system. It's free, secure, and leaves an electronic trail that a payee can not deny. Only once did I have an issue using electronic bill pay. It was my credit union's falt, so they took care of the issue.

    Just a suggestion.

And "HOWDY" from San Antone! The River Walk is beautiful this time of year.

RT, that is very old school of you. Look into paying your bills online. It is fast, easy, and saves a TON of money on stamps.:yes2557: BTW, my hubby was shocked to hear of your auto, he didn't realize KLLM had any of those.

So do you you have a laptop? At least you could do online bill pay through your bank and not have to worry about finding a secure mailbox.

Well my foot is no longer in a cast, and I am wearing shoes again like a normal person. YAY!!!:hello1::smt041:smt038:toothy8::occasion5: Bad part is, I'm ready to go to work, but nobody is hiring. I guess it's best, My wife and I have a big cruise scheduled for the end of February for 2 weeks. My family bought it for us for our 25th Anniversay, and it's paid for, so I'm going. I'm sure no one will hire me and then let me take off for 2 weeks within a month and a half.:biggrin_25512:
So I will probably wait for the end of the cruise in March and try to go back to work. I think I can find some temp stuff around town for a few weeks. Everybody says I will have to take a refresher before I get an Orientation scheduled. But I can do that and the trucking school said they will work with me on a schedule. Just wanted to say hi, because you asked about my foot. Hopefully KLLM is still in my future.

Glad to hear your foot healed up! Be careful with it though, foot injuries are BIG with truck drivers. So the fact that you were already hired with them doesn't mean anything now that the hiring freeze is on? Bummer. But you are right, head off on your cruise and then start your job. The first few month are so incredibly stressful you will be glad that you had a vacation first.

    OMG!!!!! YOU HAVE HORSES TOO????

    I breed Arabians!

Google "Amir Amante" and/or "Sakinah Arabians". That is me! Amir is my stallion...and THE man in my life...LOL!

I'm operating out of Springtown right now and have to leave the truck at the "yard". But I'm about to have a talk with them about that because when I asked the yard owners (KLLM is just leasing yard space from them) where they wanted us to park our personal vehicles I was told that we couldn't...at all. On top of that, most of the loads that get me home deliver in Fort Worth anyway. This means fuel-wise it makes more sense for me to take the truck home rather than home (because it's usually a load out of Grand Prairie that I pick up when I come back out).

Of course that will all be moot once I'm an owner op. I'll be able to take the truck where I want then...it'll be mine and I'll be paying for the fuel. HA!

You 'n me....I thinks we get along infamously! :biggrin_255:

    Newbie,

Sorry I wasn't able to respond to your PM. I don't have enough posts yet (have to have 50). I really wasn't ignoring you :biggrin_25525:

Talk to Thomas. He is my recruiter and is an exceptionally nice guy who will make things happen for you if it is at all possible.

Right now, I can tell you that I know we have another round of new Cascadias coming in in early February. This will help free up some more trucks.

One of the problems they have had is that with the holidays and people taking extended time off they have had a hard time pulling trucks (to rotate them to new drivers or trade them in) because they are "on holiday" with their drivers AND they have had no one to prep the ones they *have* pulled (again, folks off for the holiday). This is also why my owner op class / intake has been pushed back to late January / early February.

So my SWAG (Scientific Wild ##### Guess) is that by the time you get back from your cruise and are ready to jump in, things will be out of gridlock and you shouldn't have too much trouble. By that time Salinas and Yuma will be starting to rev up too.

So talk to Thomas and have a great time on your cruise. Bring me one of those itty bitty umbrellas they stick in the ####tails and I'll call us even. LOL!

I guess KLLM has really changed some of their policies. I lived 250 miles from any terminal/yard and was able to take my truck home with no problem while I was there.

Also, I'm surprised that Salinas is slow right now. Two years ago I took the $500 bonus they offered to stay out during the Holidays. They pretty much kept me out west to run Fresh Express loads out of Salinas. On New Year's Eve that year I was deadheaded from Spokane, WA back to Salinas to grab a load that went to Texas (IIRC) and on Christmas Eve I delivered a load in San Antonio that came from Salinas. They sent me back to CA with a load after that. I had Christmas dinner at the Petro in El Paso (Horizon City), delivered in SoCal and deadheaded up to Salinas to get that WA load I delivered New Year's Eve
