I ##### 6 days a week. I smile on payday. I've never met a happy driver.

unfortunately a lot of people don't know how, never had the experience, were never taught, never decided to stand up and be a person. when on all sides are slobbering monsters waiting to snatch you up and put you to work, until you start to put two and two together, for all you can see is what's in front of you is all that's available, no one advertises the exit strategy. And once you're in the rat race, good luck even trying to catch your breath and think about wtf you're doing. if you're tired, sad, angry, you won't have a lot of extra brain waves to allocate to continued searches for other lesser known options. But you've still got a pulse, and can hold a wheel. America is a meat grinder if you don't already have an idea of what you are GOING to do with yourself.

The numbers speak for themselves: 100%+ turnover rates at most of these road outfits. I had a recruiter one time call me bragging that his turnover rate was ONLY 80%!
Why is per diem so pervasive in this industry? It's because it lowers your gross taxable income and thus the child support payments men have to pay. Does General Motors offer to lease purchase a stamping machine with no money down and shaky credit on 1099 and pay per widget? Look around the truckstop: piss bottles and bags of #### everywhere, people parked in the fuel islands taking breaks, men walking around with half of last night's buffet on their shirt.
I've seen it all out there. And I can go on and on but there's no convincing anyone. Irregular route OTR trucking is the way it is, and that's all it's ever gonna be. I saw the light 20 years ago and exited that part of the industry.OldPhartTrucker and Toomanybikes Thank this. -
