But it's important you get this 5th wheel moved forward. It's dangerous running with a "lightened" steer axle. You will notice a difference in how the rig handles when heavy, but it should be a more "positive feel", though perhaps maybe not as "smooth"

Where are you located?

Most of the time, on the average van trailer kingpin setting, the front of the trailer sits even with the quarter fenders.
Any of you guys looking to buy a truck, keep this in mind: if it has a stationary 5th wheel, you want the 5th wheel centered between the drives. -
Should be under $500.
Use to be that was the standard location Freightliner would install the fifth wheel, unless when spec’ing the truck you specifically said to mount it between the drives. -
