Sounds like you might be getting "up in arms" over an opinion that does not fit your comfort zone?
Why do you suppose that is?
Not OK to take a passenger with a year of experience?

That is not true, many of us don't do the wrong thing because the government, or a company suit or an insurance company tells us to.
CYA may make you feel good but if anything bad ever happens you will know who actually made the decisions; and it won't be any of those people -
When you DON'T own the truck. You have very little autonomy in its operation. Aside from SOME routing, fuel stops and breakdowns.buddyd157 Thanks this. -
2 months sounds like a probationary period to me.

I once had a owner tell me I wasn't ALLOWED to make any decision other then which lane the truck was in. They said they never had a driver quit as fast as me. California Delivery Service, Fontana, CA.

I have no problem with someone MONITORING my driving. But when I am at the wheel, I am the captain of that ship, and I WILL think and make decisions for myself, within the scope of reality, and the law.RET423 Thanks this. -
Move up north. You might not be “free”, but you can take whoever you want in the truck without a bunch of nonsense paperwork and extra requirements. Guess it depends on your definition of “free” - being told that you are free, or just doing what you want and not getting in trouble.
I worked with a guy who at one point had himself (the only employed one), his wife, his oldest son, his oldest son’s fiancée, his infant grandson and several pets living in the truck with him. Then his youngest son got out of jail and moved in the clown car with them. They spent an entire summer like that, and as long as they stayed out of the USA (I’m sure there was more than 1 criminal record, and very likely a bit of drug use going on) they were just fine.
Border crossing complicates this issue for Canadians, since all occupants of the truck have to have digital pre-entry information entered. As long as you’re happy running east-west, I don’t think there are any rules about who’s in your truck. -
