Back at my last job it was (mostly) a local running company. We rented some space off to the side to GM as a drop yard. About once a week we would have a mega driver dropping a trailer there simply park where the bobtails were with no thought that we might actually use that space for our trucks. If it was a weekend that we needed the spot for our tucks we would tell the driver where he could park (still on-site, just not near the office) and not even trip his e-log. One Werner guy flat refused to move even after the tow truck was called. Had cops out there, tow truck, etc all because he didn't want to move his truck.

And no, we didn't just harass the driver, it was a winter weekend. We needed the spot to plug in the block heater so the truck would start come Monday morning.

Since the reg. kicked in. A lot of drivers will use the elog excuse of sleeper berth to not move their truck now. Been happening a lot at the barn now. They like to occupy our spots when they're told not to. I tell them i don't give a sheet.

“I’m not moving. It’s against the law for me to drive during my 10 hour break. So you’re stuck with me.”

That’s what the improperly parked driver told my Ohio state trooper escort one morning. Trooper said fine, grabbed his radio and asked for a tow truck, driver forgot about his ELD and left.

Same in WVa rest area , driver had it all blocked and was not polite to door knockers. When trooper knocked and got cursed and threatened the driver got pulled out and put face down on concrete, then cuffed, stuffed and towed.

Moral of the stories is peek out and see who you are #####in at before you start.
