It seems my Volvo with a D13 is getting poor fuel mileage. Recently I did a 1050 mile trip with 30,000 Lbs in a container one way and back haul with around 7000lbs - mostly flat roads.

    I purchased 780 Litres of fuel = 206gallons. My truck is limited to 105kmph = 65mph

Am I getting bad mileage or this is normal due to cold weather? What can I check mechanically that might be hurting the fuel mileage?

    Thank you

I wouldn't base your fuel mileage on one trip. Better to figure out a 30 day avg and go from there.

This could be. I get clutch protection msg often. I believe transmission is still under warranty and I will have it checked out.

Can you please explain how the transmission can slip?
It's an automated clutch but a manual transmission.
My fuel mileage is always worse with winter diesel, but headwind is the biggest problem. Can make a difference from 5.0 to 7.9.
Heading west thru the Rockies is always worse than east, most of the time it's southwest or northwest winds.

    Transmission contains a clutch.
Clutch plates are worn, not enough friction,to move the truck in the way it was designed.

I have 2 100 gallon tanks but even on empty can only add about 140 gallons at a fill up.
How are you testing your mpg?
