If your needing experience the beverage industry is the place to go I worked for a beer distributor for 4 years got my licence got my experience and moved on to food service now the beverage pay is the lowest on the local trucking totem pole but if your not afraid of work it is the way to go in my opinion

Most of the quality companies to work for want a years experience. I started out doing beverage delivery. It sucks. It's a ton of work for crap pay. The people at the stores treat you like youre garbage and waste your time.
Your supervisor will wonder why it takes so long to deliver 20 stops 1200 cases all by yourself. But as long as you show up everyday, don' steal and avoid accidents you'll always have a job. The beverage companies are revolving doors for drivers.austinmike Thanks this. -
Well......wait nevermind, oh you mean Coca Cola.

I applied at Coke when I first got my license. They did me a favor by not hiring me lol - as I forgot I wasnt 20 years old anymore.

Pay with coke in my area is about 45k. I do beer right now. They helped me get my CDL and now 3 1/2 years later... I’m starting with Fedex Freight in a week.

I started slinging dopes straight out of high school 33 years ago. That's where I got my class A. At Pepsi.
If you're young enough, and stout enough to take the physical beating your body is about to be given... DO IT.
The experience will help.
I urge you not to job hop each year trying to jump up the ladder, though.
Stay at Coke a year or so, and maybe move to Sysco or Papa Johns/Dominos to get on the interstate with a real class 8 and a 53'.
All of that LTL docking makes you a safer trucker than these "go forwarders" ... I don't care how they, or safety, want to reason it out.Bob Dobalina and Mooseontheloose Thank this. -
My point is, don’t assume anything. Every area is different. -
