My name is Tim Crater. I've made several posts here regarding CRE. I take it as a personal affront some of these posts I am reading here. I am a company driver who graduated a program nobody else would send me to back in mid January. I did not like the lease program numbers chose to go company figuring I'd continue to learn at the company's expence. It was the right choice because prior to my experiance here my hand never so much as touched the door handle of a truck. I continued to learn solo OTR, it cost me with slowness and reduced income, yes. But learned I did, in my of manner - through trial and error, through repitition. I drive this f%^%$## truck like a scalded dog You Hear Me! I'm quite proud of what I can do. I worked at it. When 80 closes I cruise the ice along US 30, I push receivers to receive me early - I resque team loads even... bottom line, I do what I have to do. Many folks are just plain lazy n dnt hv d drv 2 do wht has 2 b done. I have a NEW laptop, cell phone, nice clothes. Being a former roofer it's a luxury to have clean jeans n hands.
Fact is: driving ain't that hard. Maybe I'm just an exceptional n hard Mammajamma. But I'm taking this n running with it. Now, somebody wanna call me a liar?

    See?

    (Thanks DSOBER1)

All I wanted is proof. Not heresay. I am not defending CRE.

IF their company driver position indeed is a sham, then I want to know. But noone has told me where to find disgruntled CRE company drivers.

And to be honest I have searched many forums and still can't find it.

Lugnut you do what you have to do and make the most of it. If they are the only one that will hire you right now go for it. Learn what you can and get the experience. Everybody has to start somewhere.

Knight advertises that they only require 4 months verifiable otr experience, don't know about their rider policy, but they seem to have few if any complaints against them on this forum.

I SPELT my name wrong in a typo rush. Carter, to be corrected. Lugnut
listen, I'm not proud to be a CRE driver, but I'm for from ashamed. Some folks were born with a silver spoon in their mouth, me? I came up from quite a differant background.
Winter's tough. Should you be limited in options, fanatically determined,
and one who believes in the power of prayer - get your CDL and build up some road time.

    Like I said, I ain't ashamed. But I drive 4 .25 cts a mi and I know I'm
worth more. I'm just paying my dues and working xtra hard to EARN the $ I need. Simple n Plain. It'll take some time to knock out miles like I do -
but once u prove yourself they like the $ you bring in.

i've been to Avenel, NJ, a cigarette warehouse there, just off the NJTP, exit 2 i believe. in fact, that was the name of the warehouse, Avenel, and they have their own trucks there too.

I'm kinda surprised by this thread. Maybe the people to whom I talk don't know much, but CRE was recommended to me by several people. They'd also say that they will train you (their school), but others would still tell me to get my CDL on my own. It would give me more independance. I tend to agree with that.

I've heard of several things for which I need to look out: being reimbursed, getting paid my correct miles, badgering me to push on in unsafe conditions, protecting myself while driving and parked, avoiding boredom, and keeping fit. What other things should I be on the look out for? Apart from the trucking outfits, I suppose. I pretty much can pick up on those by reading the posts, unless you want to make sure I know of a less reputable firm. I'm always open to advice.

Why would you take it personally? The company is the problem.

    There's nothing wrong with that...

    Driving on ice?

It's interesting the way you put that, but I'm not going to comment on it.

Why would you think that someone would call you a liar?
