check out rigzone, there may be driving jobs there. I came out of the oilfield last Dec after my marriage broke up and moved to Cali. I know it's backwards to go from the oilfield to trucking, but it was the best move for me.
You can also be a wireline operator, most of the guys that come in don't have a CDL so you are golden. You probably would be sitting in the truck running the drum and your riggers would do the rig up/down. Pretty easy work and home most nights.
Weatherford is a big co amongst many that were hiring a lot in the recent past.
I need a GOOD local driving job in Ft.Worth

Earlier this year, 5 of us loyal Sunset Drivers went to the oilfield and are hauling Frac sand.
My first week, I took home twice the money I used to gross at Sunset.
Most weeks, and I'm talking 90% of the weeks...my pay is in the same ballpark.
All of us are still at the company and aren't looking to go anywhere else.
My advice is to tke a short road trip to Cleburne and Cresson. Highway 171 and 67 are good roads to drive on your trip...take notes and put in applications.
The oilfield isn't for everybody...but the pay IS good.
Also check out the thread..."Good jobs in Texas"...more info there.ironarmadillo Thanks this. -
Thanks for the help Big Red!

If not the oilfields theres always fuel hauling and with 5yrs over the road you could definitly get a good job. The pay is good, I made more my first year hauling gas than I made any year over the road and I was home everyday but the hours can be long, and the job does require a little patience.
ironarmadillo Thanks this. -
jroom76,
I was wondering about Gas hauling as well. Id do that. Ive got tanker and Hazmat endorcements Long hours don't scare me none. I already work 14 to 16 hours a day and only paid by the mile! I'm going to look in to it but I have no ideas of companies out there. I'll do a search on the Internet. Thanks -
I've been dropping applications left and right. I just moved out to the Arlington area Christmas week.
Blue Line, Labatt, SAIA, McLane, you name it I've applied. Everyone is taking applications, some are looking for just one or two drivers right now, and others are just being nice.
I've been accepted and offered jobs by all the OTR companies but looking to stay local if I can. I haven't thought about the oilfield but being here in Texas that may be something to consider. Good luck! -
and I need a good parking place in Ft Worth for monday... LOL

Sorry it took so long to get back to you ironarmadillo. He worked for Pinnergy out of Godley, but they just started a round of layoffs. Might not be such a good idea right now. My uncle works for Andrews Transport(fuel hauler) out of Ft. Worth and says they're always hiring. He is home nearly every night, as there is an occasional overnight trip, 2-3/month.
