So far looks like I’m near the top of the payscale for tipping. It seems like a lot of you are not very impressed with the blue beacon but just imagine having to work there and some of those nasty trailers full of biohazards they have to wash out. I gave the guy a five spot because there were five guys on the crew and I imagine that it gets split five ways. Cleaning those showers has to suck too and a couple of dollars could go far in brightening their day.

I would say you're off the scale. On a 14 dollar shower I'm gonna say the cleaning tip is already figured in.

Why do you feel the need to tip an hourly employee?
Do you tip the security guard? The fork truck driver? The gal ringing up your purchase at Wal-Mart?
Why should the janitor at Pilot be different?

driverdriver, stwik and TallJoe Thank this.

I am never late for pick ups and deliveries. Always courteous (except when pissed off big time) to the shippers/receivers. I yet to be tipped by somebody.

Does a consignee ever tip you after you've driven all night through a snowstorm with no sleep to get their load there on time?

Was I even thanked once for that? I don't think so.

I never pay for showers. I have credits from buying fuel so they are free.

    Brickwall and stwik Thank this.

Security and fork lift pay better so they are not deserving of my largess. Cashiers don’t work as hard so I don’t tip them.

    Brickwall Thanks this.

I would think the same of these TA/Petro meals...but whenever I see those elderly women trying to make their living off of their measly minimum wage, I'll continue to leave $2-3 at least. My heart is too soft.

Brickwall, longbedGTs, DUNE-T and 4 others Thank this.

They don’t need to because I make plenty hauling the load. Tipping is for people in crappy thankless dead end jobs with no hope of a prosperous future.
