I just leased on with landstar. been only with them bout a week. I see great paying loads going into canada. but they have that stupid rule about speed limiters now.

im wondering is it worth it? I dont speed much anyway. how much would it take to get something like that installed? and is there a way around it like i can disable it when i re-enter the states?

It has to be enabled and disabled through the ECM. Cost will depend on engine make and where you get it done. You do not have to be speeding to be in violation, just not haveing it enabled will put you in violation.

I imagine they will look at every American truck going across scales as a cash cow to be milked, a goose to lay another golden egg.

I also don't like the idea of someone who does not know what they are doing going into my ECM to check parameters

I wonder, how would they check to see if it is enabled? I mean if they catch you speeding, that is a no brainer. But at the scales? Are they going to ask for some sort of certification that your truck is speed limited? Dose not seem enforceable, other than at the end of a laser gun?

And isn't this law just in the province of Ontario?

Last I read was Ontario and Quebec, it may change.

Speed limiters set to the absolute limit is an idiotic idea, anyway. I won't go there anytime soon.

yeah, i think its in ontario 4 sure. but how do they check? that is a very good question! i personally think it makes the roads less safe. but i don't complain about what i can't change i just adapt
