Well, you were in Sacramento. Every body should be very careful in or around the bay area right now.

I wouldn't even go into the east bay at night right now. I grew up in the north bay so I know how dicey it can get over there.

Since a couple people have commented, I'll just take the last one and reply. I'm fine, co driver is fine, and truck and freight were fine.

We were on a team load that delivered at 3am. I got in about 2am, parked the truck on the street, and crawled in back with my co-driver. A friend called at 2:30 so I sat on the cooler in the back, and talked to him. at 2:50 I got up, threw on my coat, grabbed my bills, and went walking the 300 feet to the parking lot of the business.

I was maybe 2oo feet from my truck when a car pulled up, and this younger guy got out. They asked for money, which I don't have on me, and then said "give me the phone." and that's when I saw he had a gun. so I handed the phone over, and eventually they left. I think they left because a guy in a day cab pulled out of the next building over, into the street, and they didn't want him seeing anything.

I ran back to my truck, work up my co-driver, called back my friend and told him I'd been robbed, I'd call him back, and called 911. they sent a deputy from the Sheriff's department out, he took down everything, and then I suspended my phone and called Central. I got ahold of the guy who was manning the qualcomm during it all, and told him to find out why they weren't there at 3am and to get me out of there. Turns out they didn't open til 6 because of New Year's, and there was a note on the door, which I never made it to.

In the end, they made off with my 2 year old, Motorola Razr... the one in the truck that was very well used, and pretty beat up. I'd been thinking about getting a new phone, so this speeds up the process.

In retrospect, I should have woken my co driver to go up with me, but since they had the gun, they would have just waved it at both of us. I didn't realize there was residential on either side when I drove in, so I thought we were in an industrial/commercial area where no cars would be. After it all happened, I saw lots of cars. At least I escaped without harm, and if the price to pay for being alive is a stolen phone, well, it's better than being dead.

    Baack and jess-juju Thank this.

Just goes to show you why I never carry cash and why I do not like leaving my truck after dark.

Now what may have happened had that truck not pulled out they may have taken you a gunpoint to an atm and made you get them cash.

But thank god you were not hurt and they did not get anything of value as a 2 yo phone is worth nothing.

Except if they were stupid enough to make calls on it then it could lead back to them.

The dog seems to be doing fine.
She was down for a few days with surgery. They removed the mass from her mouth, and sent in a sample for testing, to see what it is.
She was back chewing on everything the next day. On the road with me again now and seems to be doing great. Still waiting for test results.

Hey There, I am looking to go to the Central School in Salt Lake City, Utah..My question is how long after you get your CDL do you have to go with a over the road trainer. Is it one month then you get company truck solo and then when can you start leaseing a truck with them.

    Thanks
    DW
