Unfortunately all of you have had to sit for at least 34 hours at a time at any given truck stop. Most of you have also had to sit for longer periods here and there.

I know that some extra sleep is always nice. Time to play solitaire, video games or watch movies is also good. BUT, there are times when you feel like you could go out of your mind if you sit at that stop for another minute!

SO.. I'd like to try and post a Things to Do, list of places within five miles of noted truck stops from the list of truck stops posted by Roadkill439342. It might take me a bit, but, like life, it will be a work in progress. I am going to start with Wyoming and go backwards, alphabetically. No gaurantees the places found will be in business, but I'll do my best to check first.

I don't think I'll have to tell any of the veteran drivers where to go if you're looking for a good coffee shop, a place to play cribbage or maybe a bowl a few frames. Actually I was hoping to gather some more ideas to list here, so feel free. If you do post, maybe you could put the initials of the state of where the business is located in the subject line.

If you're up for a game, there's a one bowling alley listed within that distance;Pla-Mor Lanes.
Maybe your game is more about finding the ultimate video game. There is a Gamestop & an Electronics Boutique here also.:yes2557:How about BINGO - well, it's not exactly a Bingo Parlor, but pull tab type at One From Bingo. Oh, I almost missed this one. This is the real deal and they have a consession stand type of food with HOMEMADE SOUP! # Lucky Bucks Bingo.

O.K. well that's it for antiques within 5 miles of this Pilot. I haven't called any of them yet, cause of posting late. Although I might just call the last one to see if they're open for business. :biggrin_25525:

Here's a small mix of entertainment.

Didn't we read something about a general fishing license for Professional Drivers?
Platte River Parkway Trail Well, maybe this would be a good place to consider when that happens. Approximately a 10 mile trail, the parkway is a corridor along the North Platte River. Users have the opportunity to exercise and enjoy the river environment.

Minerals, meteorites and Wyoming jade, what kind of rock are you looking for? There's also hands on exhibits of fossils and minerals. From the Natrona County area, dinosaur excavation displays, includes a T. rex skull, and the leg and skull of a brontosaurus. I like the sounds of this place - although I don't know if they actually have the sounds of "what a dinosaur might sound like" display.

    National Historic Trails Interpretive Center

Bureau of Land Management operates this center along with the nonprofit National Historic Trails Center Foundation. http://www.blm.gov/wy/st/en/NHTIC/history.html
National Historic Trails Center is listed seperately and seems kid friendly.

Pony Express, Lt. Caspar W. Collins & the attack by Sioux and Cheyenne tribes are some historic subjects that will come up. Brigham Young and the Mormon Pioneer party constructed a ferry to cross the North Platte River and were the first occupants here in 1847.

I've tried to cover highway routes that are frequently driven by you and that would cover different parts of the state. Feel free to add to it if you have something special you've found that you'd like to share.

The Society currently has over a thousand members, including many of the top experts on nicotine and tobacco.

Hope you found a decent place to park in Dallas, Notarps! Besides, Roadkill already listed all the truck stops, so, if that didn't help, I don't know what to tell ya. Park at a rest area?

I didn't search for a McDonalds nearby, cause I'm sure you'd be able to find one. But I did search for coffee in case you get tired of McDonalds' brew.

You could also take 1-2 online college courses while waiting. Usually you have 1 week to do your posts and 8 weeks to do 1-2 papers, when you need to take the mid-term & final, go to the nearest college where you may be sitting and have it faxed there for a proctor to administer the tests. Before you know it, you could have an associates or a bachelors in a anything you have pursued. Education is tax deductible & time flies at the stop when you do the courses.:yes2557:

There is a game called geocaching where folks hide things and you go find them. I usually see a few within a mile or two of where I stop.
