In most cases it doesn't matter what his impression of things is, especially if there is a contract that spells things out. The only thing that matters is what is black on white.

He isn't un-employed, he is under-employed. He has been told he will get a truck, just not now.

Of course this whole situation stinks and Swift should do the decent thing if they can't get him rolling in a reasonable timeframe. From what I have seen on this forum however, this is par for the course. It is also why every one of these contracts should be reviewed before they are signed.

Where I come from..at day 13 you are eligible for unemployment. As you are considered laid off, due to the lack of work.

And NO excuse in the world from an employer can stop it. And Swift IS his employer. He completed school, and the formal training. Drew a PAYCHECK during that time. Now they have NO work for him.

I'd be filling out the paperwork in the morning, if not today.

Even good ol' JB will pay you $50 a day at the house waiting for a ride.

Call them 2 times a day and ask if they have a truck for you, be NICE on the phone. Document your call and get a name. You will do better with a little kissass that making big waves. I'll bet you the wizz kids in their legal dept have got this all figured out. I doubt if you could win an expensive litigation. You came thru a lot poo poo to make it this far, so just suck it up and when you get out there you'll find out that this little hiccup is just a prelude to "hello" ......trucking with the big heartless kings of the driver turnover mills.

    Hahahaha! That's GREAT!

Sorry to hear about your situation Jammer. I'm out with a mentor myself at the moment and will be ready to grab my own Volvo (sans reverse gear) in a week or so. I was told people from my terminal had about a 1 week wait time for a truck after your earned 6 days off. (You earn 6 days one for each week of training with the mentor). I would recommend trying to work with Swift rather than against them. They could make your life a living hell with collections calls, fooling with your DAC, etc. I would tread very carefully. Best of luck to you either way.

Nope, he's going to go do 2 weeks training on a flatbed, with NO guarantee of a job.

So we both know what that means.

They get a low cost team for 2 weeks. Then, he gets to go home.

Got my truck? Looking for sympathy? Drving for someone else?

Nothing better to do tonight Double?? Please try reading that post again.

No I did not get my truck - Never was looking for sympathy - I never mentioned driving for someone else at this time.

Just thought someone might be interested and willing to offer some helpful thoughts. I know I am not the only one out here with the same problem and perhaps, just perhaps someone might be willing to offer those thoughts to help a number of people.

This and all forums similar to this can be far more productive and useful were the posts to stay on topic and constructive. IMHO..

Well I knew this would get your attention. Isn't the whole idea with starting a thread or in your case hijacking someone else thread is to let your poster know how your doing. The thread I took that comment from I asked you "how long did it take for you to get a truck"? Your response no response.
