It does not matter what age or how long, you can do a few million with no accidents and on the last day have one, then all that time is gone. It has turned crazy out there and every other fool out there is insulted by the smallest thing which does not really have anything to do with them. Us old farts had to replace the generation before us just like what is happening to us. concentrate on your own safety which will do more for everyone in the long run. If you can sit a few days losing money for the company and yourself to feel safe go at it. You are the captain Of your ship, not any one else.

Well I'm 22 been driving a hood for a little more than year and I don't have, need or want hood mirriors. Btw hood mirrors aren't that new of a "tool." Somebody who parks for three days because they lost one of their extra mirrors would be looking for a new job if they were working for me.

Don't listen to anything that guy you responded to posts. Every post he is either telling some ridiculous outside the realm of possibility story (27% 3 mile grades and running across the cross bronx at 130 mph) or responds with something that doesnt even pertain to the topic, such as now. You clearly said hood mirror not main cab mirror. You are perfectly legal to run when missing a hood mirror. You are a constant driver so most likely you are driving some high visibility aero truck not a long nose pete or kw with blind spots you can hide a school bus in.

Run the truck, just be extra careful on lane changes. If you are uncomfortable with it, then just stick to the right lane on the interstate. No problem.

Is that a Kuntz and Son's truck you are behind the wheel of? I only ask because I know they have a 4900ex or two. They rolled one not far from my house about a year ago, same color truck as mine and the one in the picture. My phone blew up that day with people thinking it was me.

I kind of expected a response like that, the difference between, the old and new,and not just in trucking, but life in general. Glad I'm not still driving out there anymore if some of the new generation really considers not moving a truck for 3 days because he doesn't have a hood mirror, and 6 years driving as a great accomplishment. To each their own.
Oh,and fyi I started driving a semi in the 60's, over 45 years driving commercially,42 years with my own truck and trailer as an O/O hauling specialized oversize around North America, with zero chargeable accidents. Never scratched another guys truck, never caused a casualty in my career, pretty proud of that.
And the miserable part, yeah, lol. I've been very comfortably retired for the last few years, debt free, with lots of nice hobby stuff, cars, trucks, tractors, etc. and friends and a great wife to keep me occupied. Nice afternoon, gonna go enjoy a beer, the grass is cut.
    Enjoy your life.

Several years back the feds put a stop to officers picking on extra lights and mirrors not required by law. Now the extra chicken lights can wait till you get home to fix them if you want.

I could care less about the mirror. The comment im arguing against is the highlighted part in my post to DougA saying that because the date changed, the drivers of today are less competent than years prior. @Rubber duck kw
