I used these mirrors all the time. It would mess with me too. That being said, I'd run with it.

why does everyone assume if a driver sits for 3 days that he isnt going to do anything productive with that time as if the only way to earn a dollar or be happy is to keep driving non stop, my decision to sit or not would be based on what im gonna do with that time, how much i need the money and if i have any family or friends in the area.

They will probably send out your replacement with the mirror bracket and you'll be standing on the onramp watching them go down the freeway. -
The reason I made the assumption that it was legally required is because the police officer that came out to do the accident report specifically told me "you're lucky that there is a shop here because you can' take it on the road like that". As for the guy who says you would fire me when I got back to the yard; That is why I don't drive for people like you. I will always support another driver asking about regulations or for advice from another driver with more experience.
