Was more than a half day behind you on the way to Cali, left Omaha Sunday afternoon. Was in Grand Island on the way to Omaha the night where you waited out the blizzard, it was a big mess short before midnight, trucks were parked everywhere, the shoulder at the highway was full on both sides.

Came I-70 down to Cali, but after checking the weather I decided to go I-40 and US 54 to Kansas.
Thought you go the same route and I would catch you ;)

Well i finally decided to go back to work. Been home since the Monday before Easter so not quite a month. Was out in the harbor trying to snag a tarpon when i got called about a decent load out of Florida and only 30 miles away picking up tomorrow. Before the end of the day i had 2 more loads lined up putting me down by Miami next friday. A short one that's 11 and change wide followed by a long light loaf back to Florida. 2650 loaded miles, about 200 empty miles (not including the 200 back out of Miami to the house) and just under 8500 to the truck. That will be over 7k after fuel. It's a shame i can't find the motivation to work more than a week a month cause rates are really really good this year. I keep trying to get motivated and stay out but id just rather get back south and go fishing.

It's the location. clear blue skies and mid 70s just after the sun comes up, a nice gentle breeze bring the ocean scent to ya. A good cup of coffee beside you and gorgeous views and no noise except for the birds and fish. Basically its just a tranquil feeling of peace and harmony. Aftet doing that for a few days its kinda hard to want to go deal with Chicago.

I tried bass fishing last fall and earlier this year in the local streams, canals, lakes and resevoir but once i got comfortable with my boating skills, and the boat built up enough trust i know it's not gonna leave me stranded with the tide sucking me out into the ocean or snap in half 4 miles from shore i started going out to the river and venturing into the harbor and its bays. So much better. After months of throwing out the line hoping there might be a fish there, and he might be provoked to strike it got a little frustrating when you skunked out. Are you using the right lure? The right color? The right presentation? Is there even a fish there? Whole different ball game in saltwater. Just stand up and look and you can see if there is fish or not.

This one seemed to catch everyone by surprise. I checked the weather before moving east and it looked nice and clear up to around Nebraska, where I might catch a little rain. The 8" of snow on my truck gives lie to the clear weather notion and it gets worse above 7000 where in going to be spending most of my day. I'm parked at 6000 and that seems to be about the snow floor. I agree with most of what was said about this route, but I genuinely enjoy the mountains and once you clear Vegas, Denver is the only slowdown all the way to Omaha and I usually rip off 700+ mile days for a couple days in there...if I had known this was coming I'd have come in underneath and stopped in Flagstaff to check out @bzinger 's polisher.

More snow this morning in Hudson, Colorado but nothing severe. Got 380 left to Chicago for an 1800 dock time. Then I'll have to wait until midnight to head for Milwaukee, I'll only have about 1.5 hours left on my 70 when I get to Chicago. Going to take a 34 in Omaha after I drop the beer load on the yard, then go hit it again.

    More later...

I kinda stopped reading your thread when you went to reefer. Never really checked in on this one, til now I decide to pop in and see how you've been faring. It's been sunny, it's been brutally hot, (I've already seen temps over 100 this spring) and what do I find when I stop into your thread? Snow.

I mean no offense, but there's something wrong with you. Like you somehow break the fabric of reality around yourself to bring winter with you.

But hey, hope everything is still going well for you.

Once you get moved back up to Ohio, freshwater fishing will be simple again. Just cut a hole in the ice, drop a line in and hope one comes passing thru.
