Just pull your box down the interstate for a couple hundred miles. If you can’t do that without a mirror that is unnecessary for Highway driving that’s sad but good for you for being extra extra safe.

You should've been a little more specific on your question being if it was legal I guess.

Yes I should have, I apologize for any problems caused by the way I phrased it. I was 99% sure it was illegal which is why I phrased it the way I did.

Nope it isn't and apparently non functioning extra lights aren't a timetable offense either which is a good thing.

You really should invest some time into reading and understanding what the regs actually say. Looking like an idiot to us on the forum isn't a big deal, worse case is you get some hazing. Looking like an idiot to your boss tho... That can have serious repercussions.

Edit: quoted the wrong post. This was meant to be directed at the op.

I've driven trucks with them and I can certainly see the benefit. I've also driven Aerocabs with the daylight doors and they can be beneficial as well. But to ever NEED either to get the job done is pathetic to me.

I think the thing that did it is how, in your opening post, you were all hung ho about sitting 3 days for a hood mirror. See, with that type attitude, suddenly a little hood mirror becomes a $4000 issue.

    “$4000???”

Yes sir. Roadside repair and 3 days of sitting. See, that’s the problem with giving ultimatums...when you make a stand like that, it gives no room for compromise. They instantly think, “This fool of a driver is willing to cost me $4000 in losses over something that’s actually insignificant? I will FIRE his arse!!!”

Next time, instead of drawing a line in the sand, find out the deal before gearing up for war. Okay?

    Six back quiet.

I don't know when the even started making those mirrors. I'm sure they couldn't hurt, but on old trucks, they do look like hell, new ones, not so bad. My new 1977 Eagle, the day I brought it home from Reading International. Bought another new 4300 Eagle glider in 1984,none on it either, don't remember if the dealer even offered them.If they did,I'm sure they would have tried and sell me a set.
