I wear regular $100+/- Carhart boots most of the time. If I HAVE to have "protection", I have a pair af Red Wing composite toe with metatarsal. Think those were in the ballpark of $400.
Sucks slicing expensive boots open on the sharp ends of steel. -
Honestly, if your going to be in them all day everyday, don’t skimp. Get good ones. They’ll last longer and you won’t hate yourself.
I’ve never worn keen. I had a pair of Merrill hiking boots I liked. I’ve worn Georgia boot co, Carolinas, and Chippewas for logger style boots. Chippewa is my favorite by far. I’ve had 3 pairs. I don’t wear them much since I started driving. Now I wear a pair of Chippewas that are lower and non steal toe.
For rubber boots, I like lacrosse a lot. Steal toe or non steel toe. I’ve burned through a couple pair of the red and yellow ones -
Redwings.
So you guys are saying there's more than one kind?JReding, stwik and Woodchuck88 Thank this. -
Sketchers makes a light weight hiker steel toe. Very comfortable. For driving just go barefoot. Boots are for outside the truck.
stacks Thanks this. -
Currently own a pair of Carolina Steel toed. Hate'em. Comfortable enough, but my feet sweat like crazy in them and they smell like an unmaintained, hard used portapooper.
When they finally fall apart next year (boots only last me a year or two, the more expensive the less time) I'm going, back to my old stand by, steel toed combat boots. $50 at my local Army/Navy, and I get three or four years out of them. -
stwik and Dave_in_AZ Thank this.

I get Redwings loggers. $140 dollars a pair here in NY. Sitting in a truck all day they will last a minimum 3 years.
stacks and Dave_in_AZ Thank this.
