Calm down there mr company man,,, you keep chasing that magical unicorn at 55mph and keep telling yourself whatever you need to justify it.... but just keep it to yourself, we don’t need anymore yahoos running 55 for the mystical unicorn clogging the freeways nationwide.. and not to mention 2 lane state hwys.. it creates unsafe situations for the other %99.999999 of traffic forced to merge and pass you..

    Wingnut1 and Dennixx Thank this.

As an O/O who gets paid based on the loads driving 70 makes me more money, or home earlier compared to idling along the interstate. Over 11 hours there is a big difference in distance covered between 70 and 55 mph. If I arrive at my destination the night before rather than the next day, and can get unloaded at 7am I am much further ahead than getting there at 11am. By that time I’d be back on the road going toward my next load. This week I wound up working 3 days instead of 4 because I hauled ###. That in my mind makes up the $50 extra I spent in fuel. Of course I’m working to live and not living to work. Being home an extra day makes me happy.

That doesn't sound like a bad gig for someone with a bit of experience but not enough to get on some of the good jobs requiring 3-5 yrs experience. You'd be half stupid to not take the single sleeper for .05c mile more. Take out the jump seat and bam there's your extra storage space.

But really did you just quote 10mpg I'm laughing my arse all the way to the bank on that one tho
