Don't know how long I'll last on this run. Money is great (obviously) but not having a life kinda sucks. Making sure you get enough sleep is like a second job.
Arrive at home terminal, break set, put to dock, post trip, turn in bills. Run home. Stop at good but unhealthy fast food place on the way, eat, quickly shower, go to bed. If I had a "good night" I might have a half hour to jump on my computer before bed.
Not at all complaining about the ability to shore up my finances with this kind of a Run, but it's the kind of run that can burn you out quickly if you let it.Bob Dobalina and speedyk Thank this. -
I do respect you doing that turn though. Get where you need to financially and then hopefully you can bid on a run that let's you have a life. -
Bob Dobalina Thanks this.

It’s nice knowing you’ll run the same truck and trailer every day going to an area you like on a run that nobody can bump you off of. -
Just out of curiosity, what’s a time in which the linehaul drivers start? Range? I understand that will vary greatly between regions and terminals. I’m on graveyard now so I start between 1-2 am. Live 35 minutes away and generally do a 400-450 mile day in 12-13 hours.
I’ve done days, nights, graveyard, swing, you name it. Nights were tough with a newborn baby and the swing shift was by far the easiest to adjust to starting at 1 pm. Easiest for me but hard on the family bc I was on the road every night.
Still job searching in a new area and so far linehaul seems to be the best way to support a family. As much as I’d rather do more than just drive, taking care of them is my top priority.Bob Dobalina and Jazz1 Thank this. -
De Trucker and Air Cooled Thank this.

Age is a huge factor, older guys require less sleep in general and adapt to staying awake and if we have lived this long know enough to not be taking 40 winks on a 20 wink curve
joshuapowell61 Thanks this.
