It seems to be common in some open shoulder tires on the steer. I guess the outside of the right tire gets a little more contact due to the crown of the road and starts wearing and it looks like waves of a river. My last set of 283s were perfect on the left tire and most of the right tire too except for that outer edge.

The 710 Ecopias are a very good lug drive tire replacement for the old 726ELs and way way way better rolling resistance.

I see they have updated the 726EL to the 726ELA, it has 5% longer tread life and 12% lower rolling resistance. That’s a great tire if it’s true.

Steers I run Michelin X Line,... formerly the XZA3+ steer tires. I'll go 200 - 230k mi on them easily.

As for spread axle tires. Best I have found with a decent price are the BFGoodrich ST230 tires. I'm getting 120k - 140k out of them. And most importantly, they wear evenly the entire way. I've tried Firestone 560 and the Yoko as well as Double Coin and Aeola. Never got more than 80k out of the cheaper tires. Got about 100 - 110k from the Yoko and Firestone. But towards the end the tread started to pit and chunk heavily.

Try the continental on your spread. It wears like it's made out of pig iron.

But cheaper in the long run. As long as you don't make a habit of scuffing curbs and cut the sidewall out. I've had mine for 3 years and still about 75% tread. That equates to about 150k miles. That puts them on pace for over 300k miles. 300k on a spread is unbelievably good.

Do you like using the beads better than Centramatics? I have Centramatics on my semi truck steers and beads in my pickup truck 35” tires. Both seem to work very well. I think I’m going to go with Centramatics for my semi truck drives just for the ease of use.
