Why do so many Americans hate European trucks?

    EU self steer axles all have a blocking system that engages automaticly.
    All you need to watch out for is that the wheels are straight before you back up.

    That driver must not have done that then. Our self steering axles lift automatically when the transmission is put into reverse.

    DAF CF 6x4 tractor, kind of day cab + one bed. Nice to lay down for a rest break. Wider, roomier cab for much less money.

    Very true.
    Instead of two enormous chrome stacks, a simple (almost) invisible diffuser. Instead of small chrome fenders, complete plastic ones. If you want, you can get aluminium wheels, and I'm sure there are some chrome aftermarket parts if you want them. But if you ask me what is more important, all that chrome or a cab with a bed, a stand heater, a stand airco, a refrigerator etc. then I know what I would choose.

    I am always for function before form. Especially when it comes to work trucks.
    On work truck I dont want to talk without:
    -straight front axle, reinforced 20k if possible
    -rear hub reduction 59k
    -slow ratio
    -hd gearbox 2450lbft
    -double clutch disc
    -reinforced engine mountings
    -reinforced cooling
    -protected components like fueltank lights, plate under oilpan and protection for radiator
    -8inch diameter driveshaft with renforced flanges and joins
    -hd frame and suspension
    3.5inch fifth wheel if it is tractor

    Does it have 500+ Cummins X performance power and 18 speeds . Probably not....:-/

    No, but possibly a 530HP MX-13 with a 16 speed automatic ZF AS Tronic or Traxon.
