    Well it will have temp tags from the dealer. Even if it a was private seller most sates allow you do drive a unregistered vehicle that you just bought for so many days. The FMCSA does not real say anything other them vehicles are exempt if it is drive away and tow away.

    Try that in a place like MD and you'll be facing criminal penalties. I would not advise that at all. I would make sure it's registered and insured with all the proper paperwork in hand before the trip.

    Iowa and most state around me allow it. As long as it is insured that is all they cared about. Private seller I cant remember how long you get but dealer temp tags are 45 days. I heard some state like Ohio can be pretty strict but most that come of it if you get caught and they don't allow it is a inflated temp tag.
