Just don't do it. These engine are like cheap plastic bags that work great until they break and its not worth fixing them, It happened to me and many others i met after I did the rebuild. I wish I knew this before. Just putting this out there, hoping to help some poor people.
Thinking of doing a rebuild on a DD15? DONT!

I know these dudes that dropped the pick up tube, guess this is pretty common, and spun a main.
They got it reworked, back in truck, $18K.
Not long ago. I'm curious to see how long it lasts as well.KB3MMX Thanks this. -
Captain Mudsocks, Intothesunset and Confused Thank this.

Phoenix Heavy Haul, tommymonza, magoo68 and 6 others Thank this.

No, i am saying that because the crankshaft is not replaced in a regular rebuild and it might not show signs of damage but it will not last long after that. So your regular rebuild will cost as a new engine if you will have to change the crankshaft as well

Did you measure the crankshaft to see if it was within tolerance when you did the rebuild?
Did you replace the bearings?
Did you replace the oilpump?Dino soar, tommymonza, AModelCat and 2 others Thank this. -
the bearings and the pump are included in the kit. not sure about measuring it tho
daf105paccar Thanks this. -
The tech that rebuilt your engine took shortcuts , if he did not check the crank . Would took about 20 min extra .
Hammer166, tommymonza, konfidential and 5 others Thank this. -
Are they not standing behind their work? Sounds like a workmanship problem, not a product problem. If Detroits regularly blew up after 50k, they'd be out of business by now.
Phoenix Heavy Haul, BackwoodsGA, Dino soar and 11 others Thank this.
