I've hauled beverage cans and they are the worst for slippage. Every DC I've ever delivered them to has a pile of cans somewhere in their warehouse from a pallet of cans that has collapsed. Tell your boss that there is no dunnage and the pallets aren't wrapped with enough shrink wrap to keep them stable.

About all I can suggest is having the pallets loaded sideways so they are wider and there is less space on one side of the pallet. That way they won't have as far to slip before they hit a wall of the trailer.

    magoo68 and pguin89 Thank this.

Unfortunate you've had to experience that. You're right I am unable to secure it with what I have but the shipper will not purchase dunnage materials; still my fault?
Inserting dunnage is the shippers responsibility.

That's a good idea I'll suggest loading the pallets sideways I mean they are 4-ways I dont understand why they wouldn't do this in the first place.

Yup, plus the No. 1 lane and No. 2 lane are seriously damaged on I880 South.

taking off too fast from a stop, braking too hard/sudden stops, turning the corner too fast, doing turn arounds too fast are major contributors to load shifts. slow down, take your time, it's not a race.

I suggest you climb in your trailer and do a "bump test" to the pallet. If it moves after you bump it, you better get the straps.....you're name is on the paperwork, you signed it, your responsible. You don't want them to take that out of your settlement. So....that being said, there is no explaining to your boss that isn't your fault. You haul it, you own it. He sees that signature, so he's holding you accountable. Just do better tomorrow.

Are they using corners before it is shrink wrapped? Is the shrink wrap too loose? A properly wrapped pallet should not shift.

Oh dear. Don't get me started on the follies of hauling PepsiCo stuff to local distributors.

That crap is always a losing proposition. Especially the mixed product pallets at the back, and especially on today's bad road interstates.

I changed companies and don't pull that garbage any more.
