A tip for the hubby. In this cold weather, always run the truck at high idle when parked. He'll now what I'm talking about. It can be a pain in ### with the fan clutch kicking in and out all night. But it beats freezing.
Very few trucks will hold heat at low idles in this type of weather.
If the temp still wont hold. Take a piece of cardboard, and cover the grill in front of the radiator, or simply place it in front of the radiator, and behind the grill. Have a hole cut in it so some air can come through.AfterShock, Rocks and The Challenger Thank this. -
MCR6468, you waited a year? I know someone who was lucky, she got a Walmart account in less than a year, right after her 6 month teaming.
She hasn't heard from her dispatcher since the beginning of this month....
Now she wonders if he was one of those they fired... he is/ was a very good dispatcher.... in the meantime, my sorry dispatcher is still there.... n I am sitting in northwest PA.... winter storm coming to this area and no load....

Latest update.
Team Redcoat made it to Washington with the load of carpet. After they made the drop, they were lucky enough (unlike Rocks!) to get a load right away going to Chicago. They made the mistake of trying to be proactive. They weren't supposed to pick up the load until 5:00 tonight but they called to see if they could pick it up early. Their thinking was that they'd go ahead and get the load, then stop on the way to get food, showers, and a bit of rest before heading out on I-90.
Well, they got permission to pick up the load early this morning but then they got screwed because now their dispatcher is telling them that they've moved up the delivery time the same number of hours so they didn't gain any time and are still being pressed to get the load there in the same number of hours they had before. So out the window went their plan of food/showers, etc. And guess what. It's a freakin' load of WATER! The shipper is paying $7600 for this load and we figured out that the drivers are getting paid $300 each. Even with the cost of fuel, I figure the company is making quite a chunk of change on this load.
One good thing is Redcoat says that even though there is six feet of snow on each side of I-90, the road is dry and so it's not too bad driving so far.
So, the wheels are still turnin' for team Redcoat.AfterShock and The Challenger Thank this. -
Didn't have problem so far. One time I was running 24 hrs early for dlvery, and customer didn't want to receive early. So I went to the closest Covenant drop yard and then told dispatcher I was dropping load there. They have to give permission in that case. Good luck to you all.

keepin' those wheels a-turnin' keeps ol' Team Redcoat a-earnin'.
For all we know, their dispatcher moved the delivery time up because there's another load there that needs a
Big truck to cover it.
By being able to move the delivery time up, it just might make their
dispatcher look good, and that should make that dispatcher happy.
A happy dispatcher is a better dispatcher, and not likely to forget the
Team Redcoat that made it possible for him(?) to shine.
Every cloud, I'm told, has a silver lining.
BTW, has Mr. Redcoat ever traveled I-90 through Washington State, Idaho and Montana?
If not, tell him ol' AfterShock said he's in for a treat.
BEAUTIFUL country up thar!
And he'll know why Montana is known as
"Big Sky Country".
I was 'lucky' enough to be able to spend a couple of days in
Three Forks. Not a lot there, but what a trippy little town.
Also, tell ol' Redcoat I wish I was with him on this trip.

HAHAHAHHAHA..... There's truth to that....

Wow!
I'm glad to hear that RC and his teammate are getting miles. I just heard from my son who is sitting in Indiana. They went off hometime (or were supposed to) on Mon. Dec 29 and finally got a 400 mile run to Indiana from Chatt on Thurs...to deliver per appt on Friday. Now they are sitting all weekend. 400 miles for two weeks for a team.
Don't know if it makes a difference that they are in the reefer division. But it sure sucks! -
It's twue!
It's twue!
A dispatcher can make y'all
or
Break y'all.
NEVER leave a bad taste in y'all's
dispatcher's mouth.
HaiL!
Send 'em a post card from time to time.
Y'all never know.
If y'all visit the dispatcher's desk area,
Y'all just might see those post cards
tacked to their windowless cubicle wall.
And when they gaze upon said postcard(s),
who do y'all reckon they'll think of?
The trick, I have found, is to encourage dispatchers
to start a post card collection.
That way, they're apt to send y'all to places they
wanna see. Could even be the Florida Keys in the winter
or spring.
It's a rough job, but SOMEbody has to go there.
Might not be too bad if a Big truck truck driver is
FORCED to spend a day or two thar.
Ya reckon.

RCW good luck on the job. Hopefully you will get hired and start making some $$$$. Also, good to hear redcoat is getting along with his partner. Hope everything goes as planned in the end.
KHRedcoat wife Thanks this.
