There is a guy that lives near me. He has a full frontal image of a female on his right arm. I know several that have the f bombs all over them. I even remember one guy I seen in Chicago with one across his forehead. Me, I will never get inked one because I hate painand two I am on so many medications I am sure something I am taking would react badly. I don't care a witt what somebody has inked on their body. I know a lady that has a full color tat of her ex on her butt. (yes i have seen it) She laughs when she says it is what he was to her. A pain. However folks there are many people across the country that don't want to see tats that cross a line of decency with them. If you have one that is like that I suggest you cover it up unless you know for a fact nobody will complain.
Will having visible tattoos affect employement?

First, if you have a tattoo proudly proclaiming membership in the Bandidos, you might have issues at a Hells Angels trucking company.
Second, at least use spell checker.

Well, I know a few expressed their opinions on ink but I'll answer your question from my PERSONAL experience. I've got quite a bit of visible ink. My hands, all of my arms, and even my entire neck to name a few. Do I look like a "trash ball" as one of the other posters put it? I don't know, I guess it's possible. But I carry myself professionally at all times, both on AND off the clock, from the way I dress, to the way I act.
The hand and neck tattoos were done when I was "younger" (I'm 30 now) and never thought I'd need to get a "real job." You know, young musician who thought he "knew it all." I was very close to "making it" a couple of times but anyway, I don't have any "offensive" tattoos like naked chicks or F-bombs, but I do have some "darker" tattoo's that I guess could "offend" some of the sensitive folk, but I can tell you this, I've interviewed and turned down a lot of jobs in my time, and I've NEVER had a problem with my tattoos, whether it's truck driving related or not.
Maybe it's becasue of the way I carry myself, who knows? Are there companies out there who have policies regarding ink? Sure, but I've only come across two that explicitly stated it up front when it comes to trucking companies, which was Averitt, and GPS which hauls fuel. Besides that, I've never had anyone think twice about offering me a driving job. If anything, during the interview they'll ask questions of interest and actually chat with me about them, and what they have gotten, or what they want to get, but just haven't taken the plunge yet.
All of my ink is quality work, so for every one person through the years that has looked at me strangely or given me a judgmental look, there's 10 more that have gone out of their way to either compliment my work, or ask where they can get similar work done. And that's come from people who have a lot of ink like myself, all the way to the average looking guy or gal who is just curious and likes them. So from what you're describing, I really don't think you need to be concerned.homeskillet, SavageMuffin and Lepton1 Thank this. -
Never had an issue. Have a big skull on my calf and writing on both inner forearms.
My experience is as long as it’s nothing crazy, like having #### you on your forehead it’s not a huge deal.
Most of the world ink is becoming more and more accepted. -
Our senior driver said they’ve been there at least 30 years since when he started. I work in the hood, you’ll have hell’s angels at one stop light and a 14 year old on a quad doing a wheelie down the street at the next. Good times lol.RedRover Thanks this. -
