Alot of companies are shady, but understand this. Nobody can predict a failure. If they don't sit you down with a financial advisor to give you a roadmap you'll fail. Most don't have the ability to manage a 1099. You have to follow the people who succeed and you have to have a passion for it. Alot of drivers are buying food from loves ect. Wal-Mart and a cooler is a more viable option. And alot of the time hometime kills them on a truck payment. Most fail jumping in within the first month. If you can change your mentality of LP into telling yourself I'm gonna have to sit for awhile while this tire is changed and don' t think about the money and think of it like a company position paying you 2000 take home instead of 1100 you'll be more positive. High expectations are another issue. Running hard with no 34's and taking loads and not denying them typically give you more success over other drivers.

Also, there are no bidding wars and payment terms are 99 percent agreed to on net 30 terms. 80 percent pay of them pay within 15 days and a very high percentage of OO have direct customers and only use brokers for backhauls. Are you an OO, LP or company driver? How long have you been driving? Where do you run? What do you haul? You sound as if you have no experience at all.snowlauncher Thanks this. -
7 years driving and 5 years Recruiting. I see both sides and hear daily more complaints than you hear in a lifetime. The variations of LP programs has to be as high as the turnover rate. Ive only seen success in owning a truck or leasing it in LTL freight or load % or training students. I met a guy who made .90cpm for every mile he drove and the student drove. Only paying 35 dollars to have the student on the truck per day clearing 30k in 34 days. Literally making 1000 a day. And gross made 320k a year. After all expenses and a maintenance were paid and fuel clearing 150 easy( his maintenance account he out about 50k in a year). Step by step instructions on how to do it with taxes, maintenance upkeep, ect... He was by far the most successful I saw at a carrier anyone would mock. 1.5 million miles on original trans as well. He changed the motor every 500k. On a 56k price 2010 cascadia. And a solo guy clearing over 190k hauling government sensitive freight making 12k per load. There's alot of stories and everyone has one. Anyone that can't admit they could have done something different or better in any situation they are in is usually the guy that spends the time writing reviews on glassdoor and has no pros. That says everything about a person. Either they are THAT GUY or ignorant.lcfd15 Thanks this. -
Also you said there is no bidding. You don't think people compete to supply the best price? A 4000 truck company is pulling freight at the same cost as a 10 truck fleet? If the prices weren't affected by volume carriers every small company would be successful. Things have changed since my dad drove 40 years ago. -
