Husband has Slingshot, a prepaid card and no contracts. No problems so far. He just pays on the website each month what he thinks he needs. Nice that you can make a monthly decision. I was able to use his card on my laptop too. Perfect when we travel together.

I did a lot of research on this recently so I could set up videoconferencing with the kids. All the big services have that 5gb cap except for a few fortunate souls who signed on a ways back and inherited the unlimited accounts. You'll never go over that with email and by pulling sites, but if you want to view youtube or videoconference you would use 2-4 times that amount a month which is cost prohibitive.

I found one excellent find. Google "millenicom". It's a verizon reseller, unlimited for $60/month, and NO contract. I was up and running in 3 days and is not a prepaid service either. Very good deal. Hope this helps.

I was glad to see your still on this forum and sharing your very insightful bits of knowledge. I first caught this forum just out of Roadmaster CDL school and looking at the trucking co.s they gave us to hire on with. Some were very low-life. Concerned only with their profits. I noticed that Stevens had as much GOOD reports as bad though and thats when I started a THREAD - "Is it possible there is a positive for Stevens" in it I read your helpful threads on your hubby's exciting adventures with the first three weeks of training. You ended with the first week of the 3 weeks with another trainee. I'm interested in finding out how that went and now how is solo driving with Stevens? And last, are you riding with hubby on the road as you planned?
My wife is looking forward to the same kind of plan. But because of the economic problems we're worried Stevens might not have as many loads to haul with sooo many drivers. My concern also is owner/operators might get squeezed out of work due to this crazy frenzy of too many, too much, not enough to be normal anymore. You know what I mean.:biggrin_25516:
Oh well. Life goes on. Thanks again and I'll be looking forward to reading you exciting on the road exploits.:biggrin_255:

that's for their pre-paid no contract option. They have another service where it's $59 per month and you are billed automatically. That's still unlimited, although someone on this board in another thread got a reply from millenicom saying that if you use 20 gigs or more a month, they aren't for you. But as of right now, they are the only place to get a card from and not have to worry about paying overage charges if you go over.

I fell for the pilot wi-fi too. I connected, it was so slow I called them up wanting my $4.50 back. They sent me over to a tech support guy who said I was the only user connected to the router at that location. So I asked him why it's so slow, he said there must be something wrong with the satellite. Satellite? Satellite sucks! Ask anyone who has had Wild Blue our Hughes. Pilot's wi-fi is not high speed, it may be at some locations but not at all of them. This was at the shiny new Pilot in on I74 just southeast of Indianapolis.

I have the Pantech PX-500. I'm happy with it performance wise, but if I had to do it over, I'd have gotten a USB version. When it came time to buy a new computer a few months ago, my choices were pretty limited because I had to find one that still has a PCMCIA slot to put it in. About the only thing I could find was the Dell Latitude line.
