Hey @all, I was wondering how you all keep track of your numbers and bookings. I know that there are a lot of TMS software out there, but here at my company, we do it through an Excel Spreadsheet.
Any suggestion on what to use and more importantly what to keep track of?
I know there're a lot of Carriers and O/O that go out of business every year and I think part of the reasons might have to do with the lack of follow up to the results they're having in their runs and operations. I'm trying not to fall into that group and want to know what you think of tracking your results and how others should do it.
How do you keep track of your numbers?

Most owners use spread sheets I've read. But I'm not that computer friendly for much.

If you follow Kevin Rutherfraud you need to purchase his products and services. Then you take your data from your bank statement and receipts and feed that info into the products you purchase from Rutherfraud to GIVE you and keep track of your numbers.
If you are inteligent you know your numbers come directly from your reciepts and bank statements so you simply corelate them onto a pad and paper.
If your really inteligent you know a 1 truck 1 driver operation is one of the easiest bookkeeping jobs there is in business and you simply RUN 100% of your sales and expenses through your 1 bank account and that 1 bank statement is your bookkeeping and P&L statement.Roger McG and trucking.shine Thank this. -
Don't purchase anything from Kevin, learn how to organize your business and what tools you can use to be more efficient.

But what do you track in those Spreadsheets @crappiejunkie -

But I meant more on the operation side. Do you keep track of your weekly mileage? RPM? Do you compare your current week to the previous one? Or do you compare each month to see if you have made more money or miles? Do you keep track of what ST is more profitable?
I'm really impressed by the high rate of O/O that cease to exist and I think not keeping score of the operation might be one of the reasons. -
What tools do you use to be efficient? and what do you keep track of to maintain that efficiency? -
trucking.shine Thanks this.
