I paid $3k for a clutch once but it included a 30 mile loaded tractor trailer tow plus 2 nights in a hotel. I paid $53k for my 13 WS glider in my avatar last year. I also had them throw in $3k worth of parts and service. Being honest, Detroit’s leak oil, it’s in their DNA. The minute you fix one leak, another will spring up. I’ve owned six Series 60 trucks they’ve all leaked. Even this glider needs the oil cooler resealed.

Its not just the clutch in those 3k , its the clutch plus pulling the tranny and fixing the leak. Is that a leak that would require fix right away or not really?

I dropped mine off at Detroit Monday to have the overhead run. My oil pan has been slightly leaking and recently I have noticed an increase in oil consumption, so I asked them to check it out. He called me today and while they had it opened up to run the overhead they found 2 different places where it was leaking. It will add roughly an hours worth of labor. I wouldn’t have taken it in just for the oil consumption, but since I was there for the overhead it made since to repair the leaks.

As far as getting away with the leak, if it’s just wet, yes. If your making puddles, no. It dyno’ed good, and if the rest of the truck is good to go, I’d definitely consider it. Swap the sensors first and hope it goes away. $2300 for the clutch itself is too much though. The labor time is in range I would think. There are plenty of shops out there that can work on your truck for far less.

Yep. A clutch job should run no more than 1200 to 1500 bucks. Including resurfacing the flywheel, new clutch brake, new through breathing and new real main seal on the engine.
Another 10 hours labor should more than cover sealing the rear housing and replacing rear engine mounts.

I bought a 2013 Fitz Columbia with 560,000 in November. So far I love it. This is the first 12.7 I've owned and after having it tuned, it runs great. Mine doesn't leak all that much, but I've had stupid stuff leak, nothing major just little things. I also knew when I bought the truck, the head was replaced at some time. The block is the Fitz green and the head is Detroit blue.
I paid more then I wanted to, but sometimes you gotta pay a little more for something you want. Only thing I wish it had was a 13 spd, but once the current 10 spd goes out, it'll have a 13.
Try looking at i294trucksales.com, they sell a lot of gliders. (I bought mine there) There's also a dealer outside Atlanta that sells a lot of gliders 3e's I think.

If you ever get oil spraying back on the fuel pump get under it and tighten up those 4 bolts on the bottom plate of the compressor.

The thing about 294 is that they sell the same Fitz setup and miles on a 2014 glider for more money. When i talked to the salesmen at 294 they didnt even want to consider trading my 09 columbia day cab with MBE4000, but Harrison is giving me $16,500 and a brand new Goodyear drive tires plus two Chinese steer on the glider
