I work for a large corporate entity at anywhere from 38-42 cents per mile (on the 38 per mile more often than not) as long as is not more than the miles between the closest city boundary of origin to the closest city boundary of the final destination along their planned fuel route. I'll stick my tail under a reefer, dry box or inter-modal. This being the typical dead season (post-Christmas) I only drove 1341 miles in the last 7 days. I prefer driving 2500 a week to keep my wallet from having an anorexic moment and maintain flexible hours which is what I yanked around last month, but these days it's getting a bit harder to cut through the nonsense and get to hauling the freight in this recession, depression, exasperation or whatever people want to call it. Still smilin' and tire thumpin' though.
