Not unless something happens, we've all been there where we worked just a little too hard that week and just barely didn't get enough sleep.

He did the right thing by pulling over, but he should have done it before it got to that point.

I would have pulled up next to him and saw whether he was on his phone or not though, and got in front.

problem is, if he was drowsy or on his cell phone, he was not paying attention, and he could have rear-ended you, and who knows, maybe putting you over the edge into a terrible crash.

each "call-in" as you say depends on circumstances, but however the call-in also starts the ball rolling of notice to whomever the call was made to, either 911, or the company.

they didn't seem to care could mean one of a few things..

    1) they get calls a lot, maybe from ticked off wives or g/f's.

    2) they get calls from people a lot just to make themselves sound like highway heros'

    3) they leave no validation to the calls, like a call back number, OR they do not follow up (like i do) with an email, WITH my contact information

    4) or it could be a company that knows the truck you are calling in, and THAT driver could be an o/o, rather than a company driver?

I was in my POV headed to work one evening, came up behind a pickup swerving all over the road. I hesitated for a few miles, because cell phone people eventually look out the windshield when they're done looking at the cat video, then finally pulled off and made the call.

The 911 op asked if I was in a certain location, which struck me as odd. Proceeded and found that truck a few miles later hung up on a jersey barrier with a front wheel torn off. IIRC 3 other vehicles were stopped, not sure if any had damage.

I had called too late, hesitated too long. That's what converted me. I don't want to come up on an accident I could have prevented.

Buddy, the CDL holder in the passenger seat explained that we were both truck drivers, and both found the behavior egregious enough to make a call. The call was made in a calm professional manner, clearly explaining the issue and why it was unsafe, a 5 year old could have grokked it. Truck had logos on it. The truck ran through the single lane at full highway speed.

Truth is, unsafe drivers are profitable. Up until they aren't.

California has turned into a sad political joke. Need help when you call 911 ? Tell them you are an ilegal alien , democrats will bend over backwards to help you.
