I was told by a recruiter that you cannot go into Canada as a CDL driver
if you have ANY misdemeanors on your record,
    no matter how old.

Is this how Canada really is?
Or am I being lied to?
Just does not make sense to me....

No you are not being lied to.

Canada reserves the right to absolute refusal admission any outsider presenting at the gate border for admission.

So whatever it is you been convicted of, it may bar you from Canada forever. That's a liability to trucking companies.

I myself am clean, (NOT THAT Clean, but Canada has no problems allowing me entry, same with spouse back in the day when trucking into there.)

Entering Canada with a Misdemeanor - Canada with Misdemeanor

A recruiter today told me that drivers who owe back child support in the USA tend to have a hard time at the border. Getting back *into* USA.

    DeepSouthRollin Thanks this.

If I understand it correctly Canada considers a DUI/DWI to be a felony. It is not in the US in most situations. The Canadian government maintains a website that has a lot of answers and a way to ask a question. Stop listening to maybes and I thinks, go to this website and research.

It does not matter. If you presented as King Poobah from London they will still bar you.
