I don't know why everybody is being around the bush. Just say it. It's because we won the big one and you can suck it.

Do not forget MB is a world player......and it is safe to say the rest off the world doesn't follow the USA in most off it's present day policies.
Or MB has realised, just like Volvo, that there is little to no profit in gliders.
Time will tell.Last edited: May 16, 2018
Oxbow Thanks this. -
No profit? What in the world would give you that impression? They don't sell the truck at cost.
Oxbow Thanks this. -
The EPA did close the loopholes, but the present leader of the EPA is against protecting the environment (and the EPA itself), so he wants to open the loopholes again.
It's safe to say that the whole trucking industry is against gliders, with the exception of the O/O groups and the glider industry itself.
Of course selling gliders harms the reputation of the truck manufacturing industry. On the one hand they want to show they produce fuel efficient clean trucks, but on the other hand those gliders make sure that new, but very dirty trucks get on the road. That is difficult to combine, and it harms their reputation of being a responsible company.
So perhaps the manufacturers should join up, and decide to stop manufacturing gliders.98989 Thanks this. -
And as far as fuel efficiency goes an old truck Euro3/4 well tuned without exhaust restrictions or retarded timing is more fuel efficient than the new stuff.Oxbow, spsauerland, haycarter and 2 others Thank this. -
