News Flash, for owner operators,,,dont believe the recruiters at GLS Carriers in Twin Falls ID, ask for their boss. He calls the shot. He does the hiring. They offer you a job, then the Recruiter wants to hire you but their boss has all say, over rides recruiter and has their own agenda. Recruiters ask when you can start then after meeting with boss tell you they aren't hiring for 3 weeks. Wth? Run. I have no luck. Recruiters are a waste of time. Interview talk to the boss. Bait n switch. Move on to another reefer company.

Being an Idahoan I'm just curious about something. There are a lot of good reefer companies that I know of located in Idaho. Not all of them pay the big bucks to start, but most pay above a living wage for someone living in this state. Without more details about your situation I'm asking why are you worried about one small reefer company lying to you before you are hired? You are the one that has the CDL. Just move on to a more honest company and get over this one. You wouldn't want to work for them anyway if they lie from the get go. Would you? Good luck!

I might chime in and say what Owner does not have the explict power of hiring and firing?

A Arkansas based reefer company brought me down this way to Orientation one day long ago when I write a letter to the owner asking about my chances what with the history in my situation. At that time I was a blacktop paving dump truck driver in a very tiny family outfit and a farm truck runner when not tossing blacktop. I learned in my few years there many small things and enjoyed my time with them. But OTR trucking is in my blood. To my surprise he brought me here to Arkansas, ran me through everything and I survived the process. I even asked for and got his road test truck with a new seat and sleeper matress to start because it's combination of 500+ detriot, huge fuel tanks and short shifting rockwell did well for me. And how. He ran KW T2000's almost exclusively then. I did not want any of those new units at that time. Just an old 120. I would run the T2000 later on in my life and learned to appreciate them for what they are when everything is tight and right in those tractors. I actually grew to really like them believe it or not.

So the recruiters tell you things you ask them. But the owner hires and fires? That's not a problem. And it should not be. I think what you really are saying is that you have to attend orientiaton somewhere for a week and learn that company turned you down. Get over it. You have a valid CDL, tier one interstate, intrastate, over US Borders with endorsements, twic, fast card and god only knows what else is needed to comply with the current Real ID 2020 act with that CDL. You worked really hard to not only get it, but also working hard to keep it.

So what if one little company says no to hiring you. There are thousands of them out there. Many of whom has to run through your neck of the woods to get produce back to the east coast cities. Most people in the USA have no clue, especially on the east coast how important your NW states and reefer work is.

I myself would look hard at hiring you. But you need to think things over a little bit and try to do better. I want someone who solves problems not a whiner who has a issue with a few days class room and other work associated with orientation. If you are not strong during that process, I wonder how strong you will be when you are 6 minutes late to a DC gate somewhere and are told not to come back for 5 days with that load. What are you going to do then?

There are several ways to solve that problem. It's a tiny problem. But a expensive one if you just meekly sit 5 days sad that you were mistreated at the gate somewhere on the east coast.

If you truly are a trucker, you will understand and appreciate that everyone within a company from the owner all the way down to the fuel and tire boy has a part to play in your success or failure. You are not your own world and dance through life tralala without relying on everyone from Owner on down.

If you really chafe at having to have the audience with the king like a subject, then raise some funds and build a company yourself. Hire the people YOU want to hire. Choose carefully.

    Good luck.

Recruiters get paid to find candidates for a job opening to present to the hiring manager of a trucking company. Recruiters don't have the final say if those candidates actually get the job. If a recruiter promised you something, they are lying. Recruiters are notorious for lying about pay and the number of miles you'll get once hired. If a recruiter says that you are guaranteed the job, ask them for the name and number of the hiring manager to confirm what they said. Do your homework before going to an orientation or a job interview with a new employers. Go online and check reviews from current and former employees if possible.

Idaho is a great place to find small reefer companies. Shouldn’t have a problem at all.

No reply from OP...Either he's digesting the replies, or he's a drive by shooter. I'd wager its the latter of the two.
