If you want even more regulation try Hazmat.
I retain a perfect no damage no issue record hauling hazmat, no lates etc. With one specific exception.
Baltimore.
I-95 tunnels ban hazmat. Bypass is Key Bridge on 695 south of the city. 40 more minutes to trucking time when done right.
Add angry dispatcher already all over my case as been for weeks. He exploded over those 40 lost stinking minutes. I told him to take the diamonds and shove it [not a nice thing...] went to the DMV and told the State to take it off. 10 minutes later new CDL no Hazmat.
Next day bossy dispatcher had a hazmat waiting for me, I told him nope. Not for you not for anyone. He purples and yells BS. I show him the updated CDL. No hazmat.
It's amazing what my temper does to me sometimes. It's scary.
Fast forward. I hope he took up a nice scotch habit or something of that nature. People really cannot be stressing that much all the yelling and such through life. It's just too short.

My wife is trying to keep me from buying a Truck right now. LOL. I don’t even have a CLP yet! I’m not, but I love torturing her. My goal would be to be an OO once I get the prerequisite experience, but that is a ways off and I’m a patient man.x1Heavy Thanks this. -

So I sit with anticipation the future stories of woe from those under the ELD chain and cannonball.
I write that with friendly smile. I don't mean any harm seriously. It's really sad that this whole Nation runs the way we do nowadays. If you recall the 60's everyone closed up at dinnertime for tomorrow every day unless it's mission critical like a power plant or military. No tacobells back then either for 3 am like today.
I wonder how much nicer trucking would really be if the entire USA would quit trying to be 24/7 and go back to actually doing 9-5 hours. -
I remember the 1970’s. Everything closed Sunday, and closed early. I hated it. We need some balance. This 24/7 thing is ridiculous.x1Heavy Thanks this. -

To your first post, all we need to do is return back to the 1962 version of hos, it is that simple.x1Heavy Thanks this. -
3 hours sitting still halfway through a 600 mile run will cause drivers to rust like the tin man in Oz. They wont wanna go anymore today once they get set.
Although I think there were difficult days at times where that would still come in handy.
Unfortunately the appointment times cannot be moved very easily nor will shippers and receivers honor the HOS.
