Get yourself a snatch strap and you can usually find another driver nice enough to yank you out. Ive rescued many drivers with my 80,000 plus snatch strap.

In the world of "its the truck driver's fault", depending on the company that you work for, they may put a preventable incident on your record. Other companies may just eat the tow bill and not say anything else

i am not sure you will be fired, but companies i had worked for, consider that an accident, ANYTIME a wrecker is called out. which in turn goes on your record, and DAC. if so, then any application you fill out asking, "any accidents", you will have to answer YES, and explain....

best check with the safety people ASAP, as i can only relate what companies i worked for did.

"cool cradles"? I am assuming you meant COIL. I wouldnt fire you if you figured out what you did wrong. Do this: Find the center spot of your trailer's spread axle. Measure the paces to the 5th wheel. Then head back towards the spread, but only go back half the distance. Mark THAT spot on the trailer. That's the center of the trailer for loading. If you're ever going to do some fine tune adjusting to a load, there's your starting point.

"But Six, it's not where the marker light is."

Different trailer configurations will have different kingpin settings and different axle spacings. And the marker lights will all be in the same place. Want to know where the center of a trailer for loading purposes is? It's between the kingpin and the trailer wheels...the half way point. Has nothing to do with the lights.

Yes i meant cool cradles. I figured out my mistake and called my safety guy immediately. I was trying to turn around back into the shippers when i screwed up. I got the load fixed then called and they said I'm still under dispatch and to keep rolling. So hopefully i still have a job.

It was a tight turn and the gravel was just laid about a year ago. Also it dug deep from all the weight on the spread axle. It was all flat surface i just didn't want to tear up their grass or go into the ditch so i kept it tight and it dug down.

Yes a lot of training. I just for some reason thought i needed to put everything behind center. Idk what i was thinking. That's why i called safety to make sure.

You can't really do that on a spread axle. You're basically dragging one axle when you turn like that. It causes tons of strain on the trailer and usually always causes some damage to the ground

Yes i realize that now. Lesson learned. My companies people will be in the office in about an hour and I'll try to let you all know what happens tonight. Thank you all for the responses. I'll be asking more if i stay on the road.

Getting impounded is not the same as getting unstuck.

My carrier bearing let go, and I didn't want to drive the 10 miles to get it fixed. The wrecker showed up and the guy said it's ok, I'd hate for you to pay for a wrecker when you didn't need one, but do you mind paying $150 for my time getting out here?

No problem bud, and he followed me at 30 mph to the truck stop.

    No $1,000 wrecker bill there!

Can someone share that with him because he's blocked me for calling out his bs speed stories.
