I don't think rates are going down anytime soon. I have 3 close brokers and they are willing to pay for great o/0. They know with ELDS one can only do so much. I actually had a broker call me today for a van load and offered 2.70 a mile right out the gate. I've pulled for there Brokeage in the past never for this broker. I kindly told him I was in a solid market with my reefer so I can't move it for anything less than 3.75 ish. He said it was a van load I again said I'm giving you a break on my reefer rate regardless of what's in the box. He says if he come to 3.50 do we have a deal. Nope not trying to be that guy but your just a quarter per mile away. I said look at the rates your firm has paid in the past, plus you called me I wasn't posting the truck. RateCon on the way. Thanks Man he says. Roberts, LA to Indy I will kill"em in Indy.

Point is there's not as many good trucks out there. I read on here some one took a IC load Denver to SLC for 1.15 a mile. On the board there 2 to 4 a mile. When I was an IC I used to cringe leaving Denver Coors for a buck a mile if lucky. This year I was direct with them on there protect from freeze program. Over 3.25 a mile going over 1000 miles as many as I wanted. To within 100 miles of Chicago. Coors would pre load the trailer. Pinch me. Guys and Gals there's a lot out there

Compared to my last gig, the rates sometimes make my eyes pop out of my head. The thing is, you can mix some low rate runs with some high rate runs and get a good average. I find, especially running out west, that I can get good rates going into certain places, bad rates going back out to other places that have good rates that sometimes get me home.

But, when I look at the amount of freight choices in the Midwest and even in Texas, it's amazing. So, next week I booked myself a cheap load into Texas and I'm going to try and run there for awhile. Then I'm going to book a cheap load out of Texas and into the Midwest and run there for awhile.

Having choices is beyond anything I could have ever imagined when I was being dispatched at 1.30 all miles. I'll never make what some of you make because I don't choose based on money alone. I like certain types of cities, I prefer drop and hooks and one or the other end, etc. So far, so good.

Another thing I absolutely love is the streamlined nature of the entire load process. I've never experienced such organization. The accelerate app absolutely blows my mind. Everything I need as a business owner with the touch of my thumb. I love the workflow and that pay is based on that rather than having paperwork in by a certain time. Work history, pay, pending pay, it's all done efficiently.

My one biggest complaint so far is that #### qualcom monitoring my driving habits. I've developed a certain way of driving over the last 3.5 years in a Kenworth T680. Now I have this automatic freightliner and it handles differently. I've gotten two stability events and a braking event in my first 10 days. One more and they say I have to come in for remedial training with a driver trainer. Example, I live in Phoenix and there's this curve on i10 that I've driven around hundreds of times in my Kenworth. I drove it like I always have, and it triggered an event on my QC. I had to call my BOA. I find this kind of micromanagement counter productive and ridiculous.

Barring that, happy so far. My first settlement was 3700 plus because of no truck payment and got my first signing bonus. That covered all my expenses that I incurred leaving my previous gig and coming over to Schneider. Would have been 1600 after all expenses without the bonus and with my truck payment. Second pay is around 1700 after truck payment.

What really put the icing on the cake was finding out that I can pay my truck payment to Schneider finance with a debit. This means I can run a few weeks and pay for a week off out of pocket without the pressure of worrying about being in the hole when I start back the following week. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS FACT!!!

man, cheap INTO Texas......bad, bad, bad......but, oh well

your truck might have a jacked up 'sensor', or whatever they're called. My red truck would flag a 'hard brake' every time I was bobtail. Might want to get the shop to look at it.

Happy that you're having fun and success. Good luck
